Here’s a synopsis of “End of World Bedtime Stories.”

The year is 2084. For the most part, the gods, goddesses and other miscellaneous supernatural deities have been away from Earth for almost a thousand years. The last they remember, the planet had a population of about 350 million low-tech peeps. Now the population is more than 10.5 billion, growing at a rapid rate, and the earthlings are beginning to develop near godlike powers. There are only 46,656 supernatural deities within a thousand parsecs of Earth. They intend to reclaim the planet as their favorite vacation destination once again, but is it too late?

This is not a contrived story.
